As colder evenings approach, the need for safe, welcoming shelter becomes urgent. The Cold Night Shelter (CNS) ministry at the Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg provides overnight hospitality to neighbors experiencing housing insecurity during designated cold-weather nights.
This ministry is rooted in our Community Covenant and our shared commitment to dignity, compassion, and justice. When temperatures drop, we open our doors to ensure that we can reduce people in our community from being left without warmth, safety, and care.
Volunteers are essential to making this ministry possible. Opportunities include greeting guests, preparing simple meals, setting up and breaking down sleeping areas, staying overnight, and helping create a respectful and supportive environment. Whether you are available for a few hours or an overnight shift, your presence makes a difference.
If you have been considering volunteering, this is a meaningful and immediate way to support our neighbors.
