Back in January 2010, Jim asked us to get involved, stop just sitting here and stewing about stuff and take public action. Isn’t it time for US (you and me) to take our concerns and move forward by contacting our elected representatives? Not as a block, but as very concerned individuals? Many of us may have thought about it at times and maybe taken some action. But, if you’re like me, it’s pretty haphazard. If not now, when? Can we do better? Here’s an idea.
I’m sure you know most of these issues, but a list of some of them is impressive:
Governmental dysfunctions, health care, Afghanistan and nation building, economic recovery, national debt, civility and trust in political life, energy, global warming, immigration…. Ye gods it’s endless. Might we offer informed opinions on these?
The Better Society Advocacy Group consists of interested members/friends who engage in a series of discussions, with the understanding that participants will write or call elected representatives to express their individual positions.
Participation is open to all those associated with UU St. Pete.
No positions are claimed to represent the position of UU St. Pete Church. All expressed positions are those of the individual.
IF NOT US, WHO? IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
