Help Create A Welcoming Atmosphere On Sunday!

Welcoming visitors, either first timers or repeating visitors, is a congregation-wide responsibility on Sunday morning. The Congregational Life Ministry asks all members to:

  • Please wear your name tags. This way visitors – many of whom do not want to wear name tags for themselves – will be easier to identify.
  • Sign up as a Greeter. We particularly in need of a variety of both old and new members. Starting with our Welcoming Back Service on September 12, we will be handing out our new, expanded welcome packet. Greeting is very easy and requires only that you come at 10:30am and wear a smile. We will help you with the rest!
  • Take note of visitors. When visitors are asked to stand at the beginning of service, please spot two or three visitors nearest you. Immediately after service ask them to join you for coffee in Gilmour Hall.
  • Ask visitors during coffee hour about their interests. Please remember that our programs are often of great interest to visitors, such as:
    • Social Justice
    • Music
    • Covenant Groups
    • Children’s Religious Education
    • Meet the Minister: Starting in September, Jim Culver and/or Alec are available after service to meet and greet newer attendees – and if needed can set an appointment to meet those with additional questions and/or needs.
    • Other Activities: Please remember there are many other church associated activities such as Yoga with Vandana, the Gilmour Gadflies, the Karma Concert series, and Women’s Walking Group.
  • Invite visitors to sign the guest book. If a visitor has come more than once, ask them if they have signed the guest book so that they can receive copies of InfoNet as way to learn more about what events are coming up at Church.
  • Spread the word about UU1010. If visitors and/or friends are interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism, please tell them that there will be an introductory class (UU101) given on Sunday, October 10, at 12:30pm in Conway Hall.
